WYD after walking in the footsteps of Jesus

I have been privileged enough to be a part of WYD16 in Krakow.

We made my pilgrimage through the Holy Land before making our way to Krakow.

During our day journey we literally walked in the footsteps of Jesus. We visited the birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem, the Galilean towns in which he lived and performed his miracles and walked the Stations of the Cross until we reached the death place and the tomb of Jesus. In the few days that we have been here it has already become an experience of a lifetime and one that I will cherish forever.

It has been a really good opportunity for me to slow down and actually reflect on my faith and how it integrates into my life.

We have celebrated Mass every day – and they just keep getting better and better!

We have celebrated these Masses in places like the Garden of Gethsemane, Church of the Annunciation and the Holy Sepulchre.

The whole experience has brought me much closer to God than I had ever imagined, and being able to walk in Jesus’ footsteps and physically experience the places that he performed miracles and suffered for us has been an amazing way to enrich my religious and scriptural knowledge.

Another inspirational part of this trip has been the people. Our bus community has shared the hardships of being away from home, felt similar emotions regarding the sights before us and also enjoyed the many good times together.

I have found that each person I’m travelling with actually influences us all concerning our individual relationships with God and our religious journey.

My faith has been strengthened that much more on this trip and I look forward to amazing experiences in the future.

I have enjoyed this trip so much and hope that I can be a part of more WYDs in the future.
