Penshurst girls soccer win over Bethany

Week three of sport brought with it a host of exciting match ups, including a local derby in the intermediate girls soccer. Marist Catholic College Penshurst, now well experienced in the girl’s leagues, took on a consistent Bethany side. Both teams began strong, moving the ball swiftly through the midfield. Possession was divided almost evenly among both teams.

Brinckley takes gold at NSW diving championships

Hayden Brinckley, a year six student from St Catherine Laboure, Gymea, took home gold at the NSWPSSA Diving Championships held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre last month. The 11-year-old only began diving last November, after watching competitions at his swimming carnivals, but with a background in gymnastics and swimming, Hayden took to the sport quickly.

All Saints all over it in first round netball

Off the back of an exciting few weeks nationally for the sport, netball is back in action at Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS). A spectacular first round of the new Netball season at Woodward Park, with student, teacher and parent spectators alike enjoying the display of sporting prowess.

St Patrick’s wins Sydney basketball championship

The St Patrick’s College Sutherland senior girls’ basketball team took out the Sydney championship 54-34 against Mount St Joseph Catholic College Milperra at Billbergia Indoor Sports Stadium. Despite a closely contested start to the game, which saw St Patrick’s trailing at half-time, a change in their game-plan brought about a shift in momentum, allowing them to pull away with a convincing win.
