Countdown begins to the next ACYF

Registrations have opened for the country’s largest gathering of young Catholics to be held in Perth later this year.

A Sydney Catholic Youth pilgrimage to Australian Catholic Youth Festival is open to 2019 Year 12 school leavers and young adults aged 18-30.

More than 19,000 young people attended the last Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) held at Sydney Olympic Park in 2017.

The event held every two years features some of the world’s best Catholic speakers and entertainers and a format including workshops, praise and worship concerts, activities, Masses and prayer. The next ACYF will be held at Perth’s Convention and Exhibition Centre over three days from December 8-10.

Sydney Catholic Youth team leader Chris Lee said ACYF promises to provide young people with opportunities to deepen their relationship with Jesus, be empowered to be disciples in the world today and encounter and celebrate the life of the Church in Australia.

“It’s a great occasion for thousands of young Catholics to gather, encounter Jesus and celebrate their faith with other young people and some of the world’s most inspiring leaders in a really uplifting environment,” he said.

Catholic young people from across Western Australia are preparing to roll out the welcome carpet with great excitement.

“Be a part of this faith-filled and youthful experience of what being a Catholic looks like today,” Archbishop of Perth Tim Costelloe said in a message to young people. “I look forward to seeing you soon.”

Harvest Journeys is the official tour provider for the Sydney Catholic Youth pilgrimage. A package of $1690 includes return economy class direct airfares, accommodation, meals, merchandise, access to a support team and participation in Sydney’s formation program.
Registrations close 16 August.
