Kathy Touma – All Saints Catholic Senior College, Casula

Kathy is actively involved in her parish as a deacon, reader and leader of the youth group.

She has displayed great leadership skills, being selected to contribute to the design of the college chapel and helping with the Maths Challenge Day for primary students.

Kathy frequently assists other students through peer mentoring. She is a gifted student, ranking highly in a range of subjects. In Year 11 Kathy received the award for Conscientious Work Ethic.

She is a volunteer for aged care in her parish, participates in the Red Shield Appeal and is a catechist at local state primary schools. Kathy epitomises our college motto ‘Striving for Excellence’.

Stephanie Branley – Aquinas Catholic College, Menai

Stephanie is a faith-filled young woman possessing a keen sense of social justice.

She gives clear witness to her faith and to her parish, Holy Family, Menai.

Stephanie is a key member of the college’s social justice team and plays significant roles in school liturgies as a reader and altar server.

She represented the college as a pilgrim at World Youth Day 2013 and has been nominated as an ambassador at next year’s World Youth Day in Krakow. Stephanie is a humble example of the college motto of one who is ‘Enlivened by the Spirit’.

Eugenia Simoes – Bethany College, Hurstville

As a woman of faith, Eugenia has displayed a determination to be involved in the Catholic life of the college, to strive for her personal best and to live life to the full.

Eugenia is the president of our Vinnies Conference and has been an active member of it for many years. She attended World Youth Day Rio 2013 and regularly participates in Brekky Van.

She is an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, she takes an active role in all liturgies and is a regular attendee of the Fire and Light youth group.

Eugenia is an example of living our motto: Act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with my God.

Sarah Maree Azzi

Sarah Maree Azzi – Bethlehem College, Ashfield

Sarah is an outstanding leader, student and musician. She is the SRC president and embodies the concept of servant leadership.

Sarah is a former World Youth Day pilgrim and a strong advocate for the experience.

She actively pursues issues relating to social justice and was a major spokesperson for the college initiative during Refugee Week 2014, demonstrating against the government’s policy of detaining the children of asylum seekers.

She is an articulate, self assured, yet humble young woman who is committed to making a difference to the local and wider communities.

 

Jaynell Vila
Jaynell Vila

Jaynell Vila – Brigidine College, Randwick

Jaynell knows the happiness that comes with participation.

She sings in the choir of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at Randwick and is a Eucharistic Minister at school.

As well as the school choir, Jaynell has made an important contribution to eight co-curricular groups at Brigidine where she is known for her consistency and reliability.

She is the first to volunteer when student helpers are needed.

Jaynell excels at science and was accepted into the International Science School in the July holidays of this year.

Susie has a genuine desire to serve. She has been actively involved with social justice initiatives, performing arts, representative sport and liturgies.

Susie, an active parishioner at St Brigid’s Parish, Marrickville, is also an integral member of a Samoan cultural dance group having performed at parish peace concerts as well as school events.

At Casimir Catholic College, shee has exemplified good leadership.

She appreciates and values the contribution of all in the team and leads by example.

Susie demonstrates high standards and she encourages and inspires others to strive for their best.

Julian is an exceptional and dedicated young man who consistently displays and lives out the Marist values.

He demonstrates a depth of maturity in his interactions with staff and students, and is a role model to both his peers and the wider college community.

As a college leader, Julian consistently takes the initiative in assisting and supporting others while exhibiting the key Marist pillars of hard work, presence and simplicity.

Julian is an active global citizen and a Catholic who has visibly lived out his faith by selflessly contributing to communities both locally and abroad.

Anthony was elected school captain for 2015 by his peers.

His leadership has been evident in the many contributions he has made to the wider community, both locally and abroad, ranging from cultural immersion trips to both Vietnam and Cambodia, to Night Patrol with the St Vincent De Paul Society.

Anthony contributes to all facets of school life with minimal fuss or any need for recognition.

Caroline Rivera – Clancy College, West Hoxton

Caroline demonstrates the love of Christ through her words and actions.

As a leader of Catholic life, she regularly leads the College community in prayer and ministry and she is an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.

She has been involved in a variety of youth ministry and social justice initiatives including the St Vincent de Paul Society Brekky Van.

She has also been an integral part of the college evangelisation Team.

Caroline brings to fruition our core values of love, respect and service, truly representing our college motto ‘To Love Like Christ’.

Daniel typifies the spirit developed at De La Salle College, Ashfield.

He has a fine academic record, placing highly in a number of subjects.

He is an active member of the college leadership team as the social justice leader and is taking an active role in developing an inter faith dialogue between schools of diverse faiths in the Inner-West region.

He is a faith-filled young man who lives his faith through works of justice such as Night Patrol.

Daniel is a fine role model and a worthy recipient of the Archbishop’s Award for Student Excellence.

Victoria-Rose Taylor – De La Salle College, Cronulla

Victoria-Rose is a young woman with strong Catholic values.

She is articulate, intelligent and proud of her Catholic faith.

Victoria is an active member of the St Aloysius Gonzaga parish Cronulla, where she sings in the choir, is on the reading roster and generously supports elderly and ill parishioners.

Victoria figured prominently in the Stations of the Cross enactment, attended World Youth Day 2013 and aspires to continue living a life in Christ.

Her Lasallian ministry shines each day in her commitment to our college life and her support of others.

Paul Weeks – De La Salle College, Revesby Heights

Paul has been an active member of, and a fine ambassador for, the college.

In Year 11 he was selected to attend the prestigious National Art School for an intensive art workshop.

He has served in hospitality and as a lector in both college and parish Masses.

Paul has been a significant member of the Student Representative Council and was involved in the Christian Mission launch and several open days as a tour guide.

He has been a significant contributor to the college community, exhibiting Christian leadership across a broad spectrum of areas.

 

 

Naomi Spinks – Domremy College, Five Dock

Naomi demonstrates outstanding commitment in areas of faith, service, co-curricular and learning, both within the college as well as the wider community.

She is an excellent scholar and admirable college captain, and has great dedication to her faith.

This is illustrated by her twice achieving the college’s Lantern Award, which is credited with personifying the spirit of Nano Nagle. Naomi has achieved in areas of public speaking, environment and social justice, Alliance of Girls’ Schools, International Women’s Day and catechesis and has been published by various magazines, including The Catholic Weekly for her article on the Veneration of Nano Nagle.

Carla is a compassionate young woman who has made a significant contribution to the Freeman community through her passion for learning, her extensive involvement in social justice and her successes in representative sport.

This is evident through her attendance at World Youth Day 2013, her work as a catechist and her extensive involvement in John the Baptist parish, Bonnyrigg Heights.

Justin demonstrates exceptional leadership both in the school and the wider community.

His appointment as vice captain of Holy Cross College was a result of his performance academically, socially and spiritually.

Furthermore his outstanding work in the local parish with social justice initiatives and leadership in youth ministry should be noted.

Christine is an impressive young woman who has made a remarkable contribution to the rich life of Holy Spirit College.

Her unwavering dedication to her faith is an example for all members of our community.

As a member of the student representative council, she has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in her role as social justice co-ordinator, in particular the organisation of the Holy Spirit Senior Sleep Out, Red Cross Blood Donor program and raising awareness for children in Australia’s detention system. Christine is a most worthy recipient of this award.

Emily has given service as an outstanding head girl.

She has led the school with pride, humility and enthusiasm, sharing her depth of reflection and insight with her peers and the broader community.

Emily is a philosophical young woman who excels at prompting others to reflect. She shared a considered and thought-provoking homily at the Year 12 retreat, contextualising a Gospel passage for her peers.

She also delivered a sophisticated address on Women Leaders in the Church at the KRB Spirituality Evening. She has led by example through her compassionate, inclusive and intellectual nature.

Stephen is a humble, faith-filled young man who always considers the needs of others above his own. While he has faced significant adversity, he has never allowed this to hinder his determination.

Committed to the college community, Stephen has generously dedicated his time to a number of groups including Faith in Action and Peer Support.

He represented the college as a LaSallian Youth leader at the LaSallian International Youth Gathering in Brisbane in 2014.

Kevin is a selfless, generous young man who models himself on the person of Jesus Christ.

He bears witness to his faith in his local parish as a catechist, reader and Eucharistic minister.

As a religious leader of Marist College Eastwood, Kevin facilitates the formation of other students, leading regular prayer opportunities to enhance the faith life of the college.

Kevin has formed strong ties with the wider Catholic and Marist communites, leading groups at the Australian Catholic Youth Festival and Marist Connect events and retreats.

Nathan is a worthy recipient of the Archbishop’s Award. He shows a strong commitment to his faith and has an extraordinary sense of social justice.

He was selected for the college immersion program to the Solomon Islands and has volunteered for both St Vincent De Paul Society and the Salvation Army.

Nathan is also involved in many spiritual aspects of the college.

He is an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist serving at both his local parish and college celebrations and is also a member of his parish youth ministry group.

Jasmine is a leader of faith, mercy and justice, contributing significantly to the faith and liturgical life in her parish, and in the college through the ministry of music.

She is passionate about creating a more just world, demonstrated by her leadership and participation in Monte’s Social Justice Group for six years.

Jasmine promoted the dignity and rights of the poor and marginalised, through refugee advocacy, Fair Trade, and in Monte’s Timor-Leste Immersion Program, where she raised significant funds for the education and nutrition program in Maliana.

She epitomises the charism of Fr Jules Chevalier to be the heart of Christ to all.

Emma is a young woman of the gospel, who takes care to listen with the heart and respond to the needs of those around her. As college captain, she is committed to service and leads the college with passion and enthusiasm.

Under her leadership, the student leadership team have been proactive in their commitment to social justice initiatives such as Caritas fundraising and Vinnies Night Patrol. Emma was a recipient of the John Lincoln Youth Community Award in 2014.

Alexander is an outstanding young man who has involved himself generously in the life of the college.

He has served others as a prefect and contributes to the religious life of the school as a senior altar server, Eucharistic Minister and as a rector in the Kairos Retreat Program.

Alexander has undertaken the Philippines Immersion where he built homes for the poor, worked in an orphanage and visited prisoners.

A committed student, he has been a superb contributor to drama and other pursuits. Alexander is, above all, a young Christian gentleman who exhibits the virtues of a ‘man for others’.

Thomas Boyd is a young man of action, present and compassionate to those in need, radiating hope for the future in the tradition of Nano Nagle and Edmund Rice.

The student catechist program, Night Patrol and Matthew Talbot Hostel visits are just some examples of his involvement in outreach activity.

As social justice captain of St Patrick’s, he empowers students to become a voice for “the other”.

He participated in World Youth Day in Rio and is keen to attend as a WYD ambassador in Poland representing his parish. Tom has a passion for social justice and he is conscientious in his approach to his studies leading to academic excellence.

Anastasia Sutjipto – St Scholastica’s College, Glebe

Anastasia Sutjipto is a thoughtful, humble and dedicated young adult who consistently lives the values of the Gospel in her everyday actions.

She has participated in the Social Justice Group for most of her secondary schooling and initiated projects for the St Vincent de Paul Society, Caritas and St Scholastica’s Refugee Gala Days.

Anastasia is a founder of ‘Connect’, a college initiative that fosters prayer and Bible reading. In her local church of St Paul of the Cross, she is a regular organist.

Anastasia is known by all as a determined and passionate person who always operates with dignity, gentleness and good humour.

She is a quiet achiever, hard working, and she is immersed in all dimensions of college life, participating in student leadership with distinction.

A talented musician, Niamh’s dedication to the college string orchestra has enriched the performance and liturgical life of the college.

Edwina Watson – St Vincent’s College, Potts Point

Edwina is an exemplary role model for her peers.

As the college liturgy captain, she thoughtfully engages the college community through prayer and her work in social justice initiatives.

She has been an altar server for the college and mentored younger students.

Edwina encourages community involvement at many levels; through her leadership in tutor group as well as house assemblies. She is widely respected by all members of the college.

Edwina continues her engagement with the Universal Church as an Extraordinary Minister and advocate for justice.

Jamie Manalaotao – Trinity College, Auburn/Regents Park

Jamie is a young woman of great faith, generosity and humility.

She is a model of excellence in her academic studies, her devotion to her faith and in living a life of genuine service to others.

Jamie is a committed young Marist and a foundation member of the college REMAR group.

An active and involved parishioner of St John of God, Auburn, she brings great credit to her family, her parish and the college and is a most worthy recipient of the Archbishop’s Award for Student Excellence.

Ricardo Paras – Waverley College

Ricardo is a college prefect and a cadet under-officer in the college cadet unit.

He is a committed student with high academic achievement.

His co-curricular activities include judo, athletics and debating in the college first team. Ricardo is also a dedicated musician.

These achievements are complemented by his participation in social justice activities such as the Holdsworth Ball, Night Patrol, Street Retreat and Bowling with the Disabled.

Over the past five years he has organised a food distribution program at Christmas time for 200 children in the Philippines.
