Archbishop Anthony Fisher OP: Synod on Youth Blog Day 20

Concert
Youth delegates at the Synod on Youth held a concert for Pope Francis and the Synod Fathers at the conclusion of the Synod.

We spent the afternoon electing the new Synod Council. The last election was for the member from Oceania and yours truly was elected. That means more meetings in Rome…

Next we had a concert put on by all the young delegates to the Synod. Sebastian Duhau from Australia was compere. The Pope and Synod Fathers enjoyed it very much.

Next the members of the Synod Communications Council will go with the young people to pray at San Lorenzo with the WYD Cross and then we’ll have a pizza with them. It may be a late night.

Meanwhile people are getting ready for a day of settling and voting on the final Synod document in the press. There is a high degree of agreement about most of it.

Delicate discussions about what to say about child abuse, about mass migration, about sexuality issues and about conscience look like resolving.

Some wonder where the section on ‘Synodality’ came from – not from the pre-Synod or the Synod Fathers – and what its relevance is to the theme of ‘Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment’ – not sure how all this will be resolved.

Pray for us!
