Priests of the Archdiocese of Sydney are using technology to strengthen their bonds of fraternity and more readily access resources for their ongoing formation.

An app exclusive to clergy was launched at the recent Clergy Conference which was attended by 170 priests, deacons and seminarians last week at Leura in the Blue Mountains.

It features a daily notification of anniversaries of ordinations and deaths so that the priests can pray for each other and remember those who have died.

The app is designed to assist priests with ready access to the resources they need via their phones and mobile devices.

Resources are available under the categories of human, spiritual, intellectual and pastoral development.

Auxiliary Bishop Tony Randazzo is responsible for the ongoing clergy formation committee and emphasised the need for ongoing formation for clergy, especially in the changing and challenging contexts of their ministry.

“If each of us spends a little time engaging in ongoing formation the clergy will yield a rich harvest and the Church in Sydney will thrive in her mission,” he said.
