St Vincent’s Care Services will continue the legacy of the Salesians and the Sisters of Charity as it takes over John Paul Village in Heathcote.

As of 1 September 2019, the aged care and retirement living facility will be known as St Vincent’s Care Services Heathcote, following the transition from the Trustees of Catholic Aged Care Sydney.

The facility has been operated by the Catholic Parish of St John Bosco Engadine since its establishment in 1985.

Trustee spokesman Michael Moore said the transition had secured a strong future for the facility in its vital mission of caring for seniors in the Sutherland Shire.

“Over the past 34 years, the founder, Rev Fr John Briffa SDB OAM, the current Parish Priest, Rev Fr Michael Court SDB, other clergy, religious and parishioners of St John Bosco Engadine have worked tirelessly to develop John Paul Village to be the wonderful, supportive and close-knit community it is today,” he said.

“The village has earned a reputation for being a haven of care and support for local seniors and has an exceptional community spirit.

“St Vincent’s Care Services were selected because of their outstanding reputation in Catholic health and aged care services, and we are confident this transition ensures a positive future for the community.”

St Vincent’s Care Services is a leading and trusted provider of aged care, retirement and in-home support services in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.

Chief Executive Officer, Lincoln Hopper, said the organisation was committed to continuing the legacy of John Paul Village as St Vincent’s Care Services Heathcote, in the spirit of the Salesians and of the St Vincent’s founders, the Sisters of Charity.

“We are very grateful for the work St John Bosco Engadine Parish has devoted to the village, and we are committed to continuing to deliver care and support to the highest standard to all residents and loved ones at St Vincent’s Care Services Heathcote,” he said.

“The village has a wonderful history and mission, and we are looking forward to continuing it and honouring it with the same compassionate Catholic values and mission.

“St Vincent’s Care Services has worked closely with the Trustees of Catholic Aged Care Sydney to ensure a smooth transition for all, and we thank them for their support during this time.

“The wellbeing of residents, families, staff and volunteers of St Vincent’s Care Services Heathcote has been the top priority during this transition, and we are thrilled to welcome everyone in this community to the St Vincent’s Care Services family.”
