Parish Mass a vital part of Tadgh’s game plan

NEW CITIZEN: Tadgh Kennelly can now play for Ireland or Australia

By Damir Govorcin

Sydney Swans backman Tadgh Kennelly comes from a family with strong roots in the Catholic faith and tradition.

So it comes as no surprise to learn that he cherishes the opportunity before each home game to attend Mass at his local parish church, St Bernard’s, Botany.

“Being a Catholic, I’m a strong believer in faith and it’s a part of who I am,” he says.

“Going to church brings me down to earth and gives me a sense of comfort and belonging to a family.

“It’s funny, because I go from the peace and tranquillity of church to a few hours later playing in front of 35,000 screaming supporters.”
