ITALY-BOUND: Choir students at Mount St Joseph are raising funds for an overseas singing tour

By Damir Govorcin

Choir students from Mount St Joseph, Milperra, aim to raise more than $160,000 to fund a tour to Italy which will include a performance at the Vatican.

During the 13-day tour in January, the choir will perform at a Vigil Mass at St Peter’s Basilica and in Florence, Assisi and Pisa.

The girls have begun a fundraising program, including selling doughnuts and pies and conducting raffles, which raised $5000 in Term 1.

The choir, which is made up of 100 students from Years 7-12, has a repertoire that includes popular works, classics, jazz and music from the Afro-American choral tradition.

Up to 40 students will go on the tour to Italy, accompanied by 10 staff from the college.
