Faith plays role for Alan

FAITH
INFLUENCE: Alan Faulkner
By Moyna Banerjee
Life insurance or a life of acting? These were the career choices, the
dilemma that Alan Faulkner faced. In the end, acting triumphed.
Alan, currently starring in the Shakespeare Globe Centre Australia’s
production of King Lear, says: “I caught the acting bug while I was visiting
a local theatre library in my early 20s.
“I was working in a life insurance company at the time, and had job assurance
till I was 65.
“However, I decided that acting was what I really wanted to do.”
Thus began Alan Faulkner’s illustrious career. He first worked at the
theatre library and then enrolled at Birmingham School of Dramatic Art.
At the end of two years at the Birmingham he was offered a contract at
Bolton Rep.
