Mons Gerry Cudmore 1933–2004 This is an extract of the homily preached by Archbishop Denis Hart at the Pontifical Funeral Mass of Mons Gerald Cudmore AM at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Melbourne, on Tuesday, April 27. WE have all been touched and enriched by the remarkable life of Mons Gerry Cudmore. His 71 years were filled with many friendships and deeds. Yet if we would pick out one strand in his whole life it was his sincerity, his simplicity and respect for the dignity of people. As a priest of God he saw that his relationship with Jesus Christ as the way, the truth and the life, would be his yardstick and would inspire him to reach out to so many in varied situations. Above all, he was a priest and pastor. At all times when working in a parish or as a chaplain he was first, and for everyone, a priest. All his life he had a great capacity for enjoyment and fun. This combination attracted people to him like a magnet. + Denis J Hart Thank you for visiting the Catholic Weekly Online.
