Dinner tribute to archbishop in Goulburn parish merger
Goulburn’s two parishes – Sts Peter and Paul’s, the former cathedral, and Our Lady of Fatima, in Lagoon St, North Goulburn – have amalgamated into a single parish called Mary Queen of Apostles.
To celebrate their successful amalgamation, the recently appointed parish priest, Fr Tony Percy, hosted a dinner attended by 140 parishioners.
It was a celebration, too, of the years of dedicated stewardship in the Canberra and Goulburn archdiocese by Archbishop Francis Carroll.
The archbishop will be 75 next year and obliged to offer his resignation as archbishop, a post he has held for 21 years.
Proceeds of the celebratory dinner, at the Southern Star Inn, were given to the Diocesan Youth Ministry Team, now present in the parish.
