Help for Timor

Children sit outside the church at Railaco where food is handed out

The children and adults of the Ermera Parish in East Timor will soon be receiving assistance from the parishioners of St Canice’s Church in Kings Cross.

Members of a parish delegation from St Canice’s who visited Ermera recently are determined to provide financial assistance for educational and health purposes.

They want to raise $US3500 to build a school, then $US2000 to finish and equip a health clinic that is only half-built.

One of the delegation leaders, parishioner Sue Crabbe, says the St Canice’s group is looking at making long term contributions to the Ermera area, where unemployment is high, services are few and limited and basic skills are desperately needed.

Anyone wishing to assist can contact St Canice’s on (02) 9358 5229 or email shsinn@pacific.net.au
