World champion debater – again!

Christopher Croke

Former Riverview student Christopher Croke has led the Australian Schools Debating Team to its second consecutive world school debating championships victory.

Christopher captained the team, which defeated schools from 28 other countries to win the world title in Germany.

The Australians won all 11 rounds of the championships and beat South Africa in the final, debating the topic: The world is facing a clash of civilisations.

Last year, Christopher, a student at St Ignatius’ College, Riverview, was captain of the Australian team which won the world school debating championships in Lima, Peru.

He was also joint dux of the college and captain of debating.

Christopher scored a university admission index of 99.75 in the HSC and gained first place in the State in the Comparative Literature Distinction Course.

He was awarded a scholarship of merit to the University of Sydney where he begins studying Arts/Law this month.
