Getting on the right track

By Jenny Hammond

It was cold, windy and wet. Weather conditions outside did not make it an inviting place to be as I boarded a train and headed north. Inside my heart, however, there was the warmth of knowing that I was serving my Lord, that today he was entrusting a small group of ladies into my care, as I shared some of my life-experiences with them.

Welcomed and made to feel at home, I found myself warm, appreciated and attentively listed to. Trusting that God knew the direction that my talk would take, I rested in the knowledge of his love, guidance and protection.

As tears flowed among the gathered ladies, healing took place and the joy of belonging to a compassionate, guiding Lord brought peace.

Staying far longer than anticipated I missed my planned return train. However, believing that God’s perfect timing will always prevail and that, having surrendered my time to his call, I felt safe. I was dropped at the station to take a later train.

As I ran down the steps to the platform I gratefully observed that my train would leave in two minutes and stood waiting in the unfriendly conditions.
