| Conversation: Stacie Orrico, faith-filled alternative to ‘sex-and-songs’ package - Teenage pop sensation is proud to say she’s a Christian By James Hastings Jimmy Saville once said the joy of hosting Top of The Pops was you never knew who was coming on next. He has introduced a number of strange guys and gals on Britain’s biggest music show. There was Clive Dunn (Dad’s Army) doing his grandad act, some Matchstick men from up north and the occasional glove puppets who went straight to the coveted number one spot. Now another act with a difference is starting to infiltrate the mainly secular world of popular music – the Christian performer. Cliff Richard may have started it all, but younger singers and groups largely from America, are giving the Bible the rock ‘n’ roll treatment while not surrendering their Christian faith or morals. Leading the way is a 17-year-old girl, Stacie Orrico, who started recording on a Christian label when she was just 12 and has now been signed up by Virgin Records.
