| Pregnant pause: Sneak preview of a baby with the face of an angel
Marilyn, one of our journalists, is pregnant with her first child. We are following the progress of the fledgling Rodrigues family as she keeps a diary of her pregnancy for The Catholic Weekly. This is the 16th entry The morning brought a problem with the car. The afternoon brought a surprise trial run for the birth after our regular visit to the doctor. We saw the midwives at the hospital, and I was able to try out a birthing unit bed and the CTG machine that measures the baby's heartbeat and any contractions. This was because of an ultrasound that showed the baby is a little on the small side for its age, and the blood flow through the placenta might be affected. The doctor wants to monitor the little one's health a bit more closely from now on. So that means Peter and I will get a few more chances to familiarise ourselves with the birthing unit before the big day arrives. - Marilyn Rodrigues, Week 37 Thank you for visiting the Catholic Weekly Online.
