Pitter patter: Baby pace

Marilyn Rodrigues, one of our journalists, has just given birth to her first child. As we followed the progress of her pregnancy in Pregnant pause, so we shall follow the family’s life with baby Naomi Thérèse in this new diary.

Naomi used to look just like a doll I had when I was a girl, called My Child (a prettier alternative to the Cabbage Patch doll) and it was just as much fun to dress her up in the cute little 0000 size jumpsuit, choosing a different lolly-colour each day.

But dolls don’t outgrow their clothes, and it was a bit sad to have to pack Naomi’s away this week, looking like new.

It seems like I just gave birth to Naomi yesterday, and she’s already outgrowing my image of her. She is running ahead and we have to catch up!

This week while feeding her I also found myself shifting over on the sofa because her feet were kicking hard against the armrest.
