SOCCER TOURNAMENT: Allows seminarians “to broaden their contact with those who share the same faith and hope in their journey towards priesthood”.

By Damir Govorcin

The Good Shepherds found green pastures down south last year when they headed to Melbourne to contest the inter-seminary soccer tournament.

This year they’re hoping that the green, green grass of Homebush will be just as fruitful for them.

The soccer-playing seminarians from the Good Shepherd Seminary at Homebush will be joined by seminarians from across Australia on the weekend of August 7–8 for the annual inter-seminary soccer tournament, which will be played at Mason Park.

The tournament, first held in Wagga Wagga in 1998, provides seminarians with the opportunity to combine sport and faith as they continue their journey towards priesthood.

The seminaries competing this year are the Good Shepherd, Homebush; Vianney College, Wagga Wagga; Corpus Christi, Melbourne; Holy Spirit, Queensland; St Charles, Perth; and the Neocatechumates, Perth/Sydney.
