‘Festival’ became Catalyst for Renewal

INSPIRATION:
Pope John XXIII
Catalyst for Renewal is celebrating its 10th birthday this month.
Ten Sydney Catholics gathered in a private home on July 3, 1994, to discuss
the possibilities of a “Catholic lay festival”.
In the spirit of Vatican II, the convenor invited the participants to
“affirm the role of the laity” and to do this “without confrontation”.
The idea of a “lay festival” was, in fact, shelved at that meeting.
What emerged instead was a series of meetings that developed into Catalyst
for Renewal Incorporated.
