PRAYERS: Pope John Paul II

Pope John Paul II has sent condolences on the death of Bishop John Heaps.

In a message to Cardinal George Pell, Archbishop of Sydney, the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, says:

“Saddened to learn of the death of Bishop John Heaps, former auxiliary bishop of Sydney, the Holy Father has asked me to send condolences to you and to the clergy, religious and laity of the arch-diocese.

“His Holiness offers fervent prayers for his eternal rest to God the Father of all mercies.

“To the relatives and friends of the late bishop, and to all who mourn his passing, the Holy Father willingly imparts his Apostolic Blessing as a pledge of strength and hope on Our Lord Jesus Christ.”
