| Parish honours ‘linchpin’ of Vinnies conference
GUIDANCE: Kevin Hennessy is pictured at All Hallows Church, Five Dock, with parish priest Fr Bob Hayes and Vinnies conference members Danny Long and Pat Griffith By Marilyn Rodrigues Kevin Hennessy has been described by his colleagues in the Society of St Vincent de Paul as “the linchpin of the Five Dock conference”. “ The members look to him for guidance and support,” says Pat Griffith, president of the Five Dock conference. His phone and fax have always been available to take the calls from the Western Suburbs region office at Burwood in order to render assistance to all those in the Five Dock parish area who are in need.” Kevin joined the Society’s Five Dock conference after moving to the parish more than 40 years ago. He was president for many years and now serves as the treasurer. He has been warden during that time for the 10am Mass at All Hallows Church, Five Dock, and – with his wife, Frances – has given many years assistance to the parish primary school. Kevin has been involved in all aspects of the Society’s work, including
visits to the Matt Talbot Hostel and nursing homes. His efforts were also acknowledged by a papal blessing and a centenary medal from the Federal Government. Kevin, though “a bit embarrassed”, said it was “nice to be appreciated” for his community work.
