Alternative to IVF

The Catholic Institute of Sydney will host a presentation next month on an alternative to in vitro fertilisation for couples who are finding it difficult to conceive.

Dr Amanda Lamont will speak on the Fertility Care Program, which provides fertility education and treatment within the ethical norms of the Catholic faith. Its services include instruction in fertility awareness, counselling, gynaecological diagnosis and treatment and obstetric care.

Dr Lamont established Australia’s first Fertility Care centre in Perth in early 2002 with the assistance of St John of God Health Care Subiaco.

“The service stands on its own merits, but is also good to let people know there are other options apart from IVF,” she says.

Dr Lamont hopes that more doctors and other health professionals will opt to be trained in the Fertility Care system.

Medical health professionals, counsellors, and family planning educators are invited to attend the free presentation at 7.30pm on Friday, March 5, at the Catholic Institute of Sydney (99 Albert St, Strathfield).
