| Twins among high achievers

The class of 2003 succeeded on a number of fronts, with an average University Admission Index (UAI) of 85.4 and five students obtaining more than 99. About a third of the students were placed in the top 10 per cent of the state. In 35 out of the 36 subjects offered, the school average was above the state mean. And in seven subjects, the college had a student placed in the top 10 in the state. There were eight students in the top all-rounders list: Prue Freestone, Rebecca Grover, Hayley Marano, Heather Marano, Suzannah Morris, Naomi Oreb, Anna Payten and Emma Small. Fifteen students’ works were shortlisted (four were chosen) for inclusion in ArtExpress, one student’s work was selected for OnStage and two were asked to display their creations for designTECH. One of the college’s duxes, Naomi Oreb, whose UAI was 99.95, will study a combined Arts and Law degree at the University of Sydney. Twins Heather and Hayley Marano, who studied the same HSC subjects, received UAIs of 98.75 and 97.3 respectively. Hayley is going on to Arts/Law at Macquarie University and Heather to Economics/Social Science at the University of Sydney.
