HANDS ACROSS THE SEA: Visiting American People to People student ambassadors and their hosts, schoolchildren from St Thomas Becket Primary in Lewisham, express their unity by painting a sea of hands signifying peace and friendship between our nations. A group of 34 students and three teachers from New Jersey, US, has been visiting St Thomas Becket Primary School, Lewisham, as a part of the People to People Ambassador Program. The student ambassadors were in Australia for two weeks during their summer break to learn about Australia and share in a range of experiences from bush retreats in outback Queensland to city living in Sydney. A part of their Sydney experience was to spend a day in an Australian school and take part in activities with local students. St Thomas Becket school community offered a full day of activities for the American students before they flew back home to New Jersey. “The day gave the children from Kindergarten to Grade 6 the chance to make new friends,” said Andrew King, the co-ordinating teacher from St Thomas Becket.
