Patricians choose Indian to head leadership team
The Patrician Brothers general chapter, meeting in Kamagut, Kenya, has elected a new leadership team to govern the congregation for the next six years. Br Jerome Ellens, from the Indian province, is the new superior general.
Br Jerome, the first Indian to be accorded this honour, had been vicar general for the past six years, assisting the outgoing general, Br Philip Mulhall, in leadership matters. Br Peter Ryan, former Australian provincial, is the new vicar general. He is stationed at Aitape, PNG, where he is engaged in novitiate duties.
The canonical councillors are Br Edward McCarthy, from Kenya, and Br James O'Rourke, former Irish provincial.
