Cologne ‘a journey on many levels’: cardinal

YOUTH MASS: Cardinal Pell was principal celebrant at a youth Mass in St Mary’s Cathedral after the World Youth Day gathering.

The pilgrimage to the German city of Cologne for World Youth Day next year will be a journey “on many levels” for young people, says the Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell.

“On one level it will be the physical journey and on another level it will be a spiritual journey,” he told a World Youth Day gathering in St Mary’s Cathedral College hall last Sunday.

“This is why you need to be genuinely open to ideas and people and continually searching for answers and the truth”.

Cardinal Pell told the gathering of World Youth Day aspirants: “First of all let me tell you that I very much believe in World Youth Days ... on many levels.

“I believe in them on a human level and a religious level.
