By Damir Govorcin

Marist College Eastwood may have discovered a future Olympic swimming champion in 12-year-old Cameron Piper.

Cameron was the star performer at the recent Metropolitan Catholic Schools and Combined Catholic Colleges swimming championships.

He won all events he contested in the under-12s at the Metropolitan championships and set championship records in the 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 50m breaststroke and 100m freestyle.

He continued his winning way in the Combined championships, setting three records, winning four events and being named age champion.

Marists Eastwood had six representatives in the Combined Catholic Colleges championships – Cameron, who was under-12 age champion at the Metropolitans, Adam Keelan, runner up under-16 age champion, and Chris Wilson, Nathan Breen, Noel Kelly and Michael Bones.
