Pregnant pause: It’s so enjoyable, I’m not sure that I want the waiting to end

Marilyn, one of our journalists, is due to have her first child. We have been following the progress of the fledgling Rodrigues family during the pregnancy through the diary of her pregnancy that Marilyn has written for The Catholic Weekly. This is the 19th entry.

I’ve enjoyed this pregnancy so much that I’m a bit reluctant for it to end.

It’s a paradox. Part of the fun is being impatient to finally meet the baby and start our life together.

Every morning when I first wake up (about 4am) I think that today could be the day.

But this is a special time of waiting, too; I shouldn’t wish it away. Soon we’ll be plunged into a demanding time of adjustment.

Most days bring a surprise, like one friend’s hugely generous gift and the arrival of an anonymous bunch of flowers.

- Marilyn Rodrigues, Week 40
