On the frontline

Promila (above), married with two daughters, aged seven and 12, is on the frontline in Caritas Australia’s war on poverty.

She lives in Bangladesh where she serves on the management committee of a fish hatchery.

The economy of Bangladesh is largely agricultural. But one third of the country is dominated by wetlands, so the role of fisheries is crucial.

Caritas Australia helps the poor in Bangladesh to ‘grow fish’ through its Sustainable Aquatic Resources Management program and so break free from poverty. The goal is to increase fish production and at the same time create more employment.

Promila is proud to be involved in the Bochagoni hatchery.
