| Peace, love inspire student art
‘TAT’ TWO: Clancy Award winner Sonja Donohoe with her painting The Donohoe boys By THERESE SPRUHAN Jesus’ message of peace and love was the inspiration for many of the works in this year’s Sydney Catholic secondary schools Religious Art Exhibition held at the Australian Catholic University (ACU), Strathfield. Nearly 70 students from 24 schools submitted work for the exhibition, which provides students from Years 7 to 12 with an opportunity to explore religious and spiritual ideas through their art. Eight works were singled out for prizes, with the Clancy Award presented to Sonja Donohoe, who was a Year 12 student at De La Salle College, Cronulla, last year. Her entry – The Donohoe Boys – featured her brothers, tattooed twins Shaun and Chris. Sonja said her artwork is about appearances and judgments, and how the way people look is often in contrast to who they are as people. Thank you for visiting the Catholic Weekly Online.
