| Sybil pushes the boundaries
RECOGNITION: Bishop Geoffrey Robinson presents Sybil Dickens, principal of Sacred Heart Primary, Cabramatta, with the Br John Taylor award for excellence in Catholic education Sybil Dickens, principal of Sacred Heart Primary, Cabramatta, has been awarded the Br John Taylor award for excellence in Catholic education. THERESE SPRUHAN reports Sybil Dickens doesn’t like a lot of fuss or attention focused on herself. But she’s more than happy to take you to visit the Sacred Heart classrooms, to meet the children and teachers, and to show you all the wonderful things the children are learning. She’s obviously proud of her school, her teachers, students and their parents. And she’s thrilled at the completion of the school’s building project, which has resulted in a more colourful school. She talks with great enthusiasm about ‘the buzz’ she gets from exchanging ideas with her fellow teachers to re-evaluate, assess and refine their teaching to ensure that they are meeting the needs of the children. She’s also particularly pleased with the school’s logo, which she says visually captures what the staff want for the children of Cabramatta – ‘look out here I come’.
