Concert ‘journey’ by young honours Pope’s anniversary

A banner declaring ‘Pope for the young’ provided the backdrop for a concert in Blacktown to honour the 25th anniversary of Pope John Paul II’s papacy.

The concert, organised by Croatian Catholic Youth of Sydney, highlighted the achievements of the Pope through prayer, words and pictures.

It was a journey through seven scenes: Apostle of Peace and Love; Family - the way of the Church and the people; Young people with the Pope through song and prayer; On the way to holiness - St Maria de Mattias; Asking forgiveness and forgiving; With the Pope in Christ through Mary and Five times in the land of our people. Each scene began with a short film on a significant moment in the Pope’s life and was followed by either a reading about him or words spoken by him.

The Croatian Catholic Centre was filled with the music of the Church of St Anthony Youth Choir, organist Allan Novakovich, spiritual singer Luka Balvan and others.
