Fr Barry cuts his anniversary cake

Parishioners, family and friends gathered at St Joseph’s Church, Rozelle, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the ordination into the priesthood of Fr Barry Dwyer, chaplain of the parish.

Fr Barry, who has been “priest in residence” at Rozelle since February 2001, “has endeared himself to the parish with his pleasant personality and by his considerable contribution to the spiritual wellbeing of the parish”, says parish stalwart Ray Swinfield.

After the anniversary Mass - at which eight parishioners served and Fr Barry’s family presented the readings, the prayers of intercession, the offertory procession and the distribution of the Eucharist - the congregation gathered in the church hall for a party in Fr Barry’s honour.

He was presented with a digital camera.
