Rose Bay victory

Students
from Kincoppal-Rose Bay – pictured, from left: Catherine Goodfellow, Samantha
Williams, Alex Storey and Abigail McCarthy – have reasoned and argued their way
into first place of the senior debating category at the Independent Girls’ Schools’
Speaking Competition for the second year in a row. The competition
is fought out between 25 girls’ schools across the state whose skills are challenged
in debating, current affairs, poetry presentations, public speaking, reading,
drama and religious and ethical questions. Kincoppal-Rose Bay came third
in the overall placings, after PLC and MLC. English teacher Mrs Elizabeth
Webster said: “It’s an emotion-charged event running over 18 hours in one weekend
and is quite challenging for all the girls and staff involved and requires a great
deal of preparation and skill.” |
