‘Advocate for poor’
The 2003 Winter Appeal is the last for Pat O’Flynn in his role as NSW president of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
Owen Rogers, executive officer of the Society, says much has been achieved under Mr O’Flynn’s directorship.
“He has great compassion and a desire to help the less fortunate in the community, whether they are from the city or the bush,” he said.
“He has been an advocate for the marginalised, the outcast, the poor and the homeless.”
Mr O’Flynn, who retires next month, will become president of the Matthew Talbot Hostel management committee.
