Pope's words by SMS

Pope John Paul II's teachings may soon be popping up as daily text messages on mobile telephones.

The Vatican and an Italian mobile phone company, TIM, have announced that mobile phone clients can subscribe to a new SMS service called Thought of the Holy Father.

For 25 cents a day, subscribers receive an inspirational quotation chosen from one of the Pope's sermons, messages or documents,

The service, available only in Italian now, is to be offered in other languages.
