World Meeting of Families

The fourth World Meeting of Families is being held this weekend in Manila, in the Philippines, but for the first time Pope John Paul II is not attending.

Instead, he will speak to the gathering via a satellite link. Cardinal Lopez Trujillo, president of the Pontifical Council for the Family, will celebrate the Mass.

The Bishop of Port Pirie, Bishop Eugene Hurley, is leading the delegation of 36 Australians, some of whom are speakers.
