Live Christ's message of love

Australian bishops are calling on families to commit to fostering a "lifestyle of forgiveness" on Australia Day (January 26).

Port Pirie Bishop Eugene Hurley, chairman of the Bishops' Committee for the Family and for Life, says this Australia Day comes at a time of exceptional tensions over Australia's response to asylum seekers, terrorism and possible war.

Catholics could show the way forward for the nation by living Christ's message of love in ordinary family life, he said.
