Asbestos in archdiocese schools 'under control'

The Catholic Education Office has reassured parents of children at Catholic schools in the Sydney archdiocese that the asbestos situation is under control.

Ted Day, head of schools facilities and planning unit, says the protocol on handling asbestos is in continual development.

"We work closely with WorkCover regarding the removal or securing of asbestos materials," he said.

"If we find a situation where there is an asbestos problem, our record proves we move quickly to fix it and to ensure the school community is fully informed."
