Two Australians in planning for Cologne youth day

Two young Australians are among 230 leaders of youth ministry from all over the world who have been laying plans for the next World Youth Day celebration, to be held in Cologne, Germany, in 2005.

The two - Adam Morris of Canberra-Goulburn and Selina Hasham of Sydney - were also delegates to World Youth Day in Toronto, Canada, last year.

They went to the Rome conference to put forward their observations and experiences of Toronto and to contribute ideas for Cologne.

The Pontifical Council for the Laity, which organised the conference, said delegates also had a chance “to reflect on the many challenges and priorities facing youth ministry today”.

Adam (pictured) and Selina joined the young people of Rome in their gathering with Pope John Paul II on Thursday, April 10, and took part in the the Pope’s Palm Sunday Eucharist in St Peter’s Square.

Adam said he was looking forward to affirming the “mind blowing” experience of World Youth Day in Toronto.

“[World Youth Day] gives you this amazing sense of the global Church - it’s the true meaning of Catholic and it’s really great to experience it.”
