3 choirs in evening of carols

Three cathedral choirs will perform in the Christmas Carols service at St Mary’s Cathedral on Sunday, December 22 – the St Mary’s Singers, the St Mary’s Cathedral Choir and the Cathedral Girl Choristers.

They will be accompanied by senior organist Peter Kneeshaw in a program that includes the charming Christmas Lullaby, by English composer John Rutter; the familiar reworking of the beloved Lourdes hymn to a Christmas text, The Mother of Jesus; Joys Seven, by Stephen Cleobury (Kings College, Cambridge), which explores Gospel incidents in the relationship between Jesus and his mother Mary; and a number of popular Christmas carols.

The service, which begins at 7.30pm, will be presided over by the Archbishop of Sydney, Dr George Pell.
