Crackerjack way to see charity in action

Lance Brooks, founder of Communities for Communities and a former Survivor contestant, with children at Ranong

Moviegoers at the charity screening of the comedy Crackerjack for Communities for Communities (C4C) on Wednesday night (December 4) will have the chance to see how and where their charity dollars are spent.

The hilarious Mick Molloy movie will be preceded by a documentary on the recent trip by C4C founder, Lance Brooks, to Ranong, the fishing village on the Thai-Burmese border. There C4C is working with Caritas Australia, the Catholic agency for overseas aid and development, in a welfare and education project to assist a community of displaced ethnic Burmese.

The project provides support to teachers in five schools, scholarships to families that cannot afford school fees, one nutritious meal per student each week, school uniforms and welfare assistance to the community as required.

The C4C screening of Crackerjack will be at the Greater Union cinema, Burwood, at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Champagne and nibbles will be provided.

Tickets are $20 each. To book, call Sally Worner on 9745 2024.
