Here is the news Live on Radio 2

By Damir Govorcin

The broadcasting career of the Rev Dr Gordon Moyes, the Superintendent of Wesley Mission, will continue – but on a new station.

Dr Moyes will broadcast his popular Sunday Night Live program from 7 pm on Sydney’s newest AM radio station, Radio 2 1611 AM, starting this Sunday, August 25.

Discussions between Dr Moyes and Radio 2’s managing director, Andrew Thompson, began when 2GB announced its decision to axe the popular program after 17 years on air.

The axe fell on the program after 2GB demanded a $500,000 fee for the traditionally free timeslot.

Dr Moyes says there had been several boardroom clashes in recent years between Wesley Mission’s 2GB board members and the new owners.

The relationship “was not an easy one”, says Dr Moyes. “It was a typical clash of cultures which the Bible refers to as ‘being unequally yoked together’ “.

Now that the program has been thrown a lifeline, Dr Moyes is determined to make it a ratings winner for Radio 2 1611 AM. “This is just the beginning because as Radio 2 grows nationally Sunday Night Live will grow also,” he said.

“The program will be engaging, challenging and, as always, will be great radio.”
