‘Bishop buses’ ready to roll
Parishes and church groups have begun booking ‘bishop buses’ as more than 8,500 people plan to attend the December 3 Installation Mass for Coadjutor Archbishop Philip Wilson at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Organisers said they had received an overwhelming response for tickets from the 1,000 personally invited guests, including at least 100 priests, as well as religious leaders, politicians and civic leaders. Paul Sharkey, executive officer coordinating the celebration, said he was expecting a similar response to the first round of 4,000 tickets now being offered. “This is a once-in-a-generation celebration,” Mr Sharkey said. “So a great sense of excitement is starting to build.” The final design of the ‘sacred space’ being created for the Entertainment Centre has freed up an extra 1,500 seats – taking seating capacity from an initial 7,000 to around 8,500. Extra tickets may be made available in a second round depending on demand and availability. The first round tickets did not mean they were the “best seats in the house”, however, as people would take their seats just as if they were attending Mass. Anyone from Sydney or Wollongong who wishes to attend the installation should fax organisers with their details on 08 8301 6842 or use the online contact form on www.adelaide.catholic.org.au/installation
