Slam dunk success when Kings pair coach students

Domremy students enjoyed a coaching clinic with members of the Sydney Kings basketball team

James Smith and Brian Andrews coached students in a Sydney Kings basketball clinic at Domremy College during Term 1.

The clinic was to help develop skills and fitness and also to select Domremy’s Basketball squads.

Seventy five students from all age-groups participated in this clinic.

Apart from being coached in various skills of the game, students were also able to witness the extraordinary talents of James Smith, one of the NBL’s best slam dunkers.

They spoke to the players and received programs, autographs and posters. The afternoon was very successful.

The students hope the Sydney Kings players will return soon for another coaching clinic.

Danielle Freeman, a Year Nine student at Domremy, wrote the following about her experience of the Term 1 clinic:

“The afternoon was filled with new skills and techniques. For some that was learning how to dribble the ball with your head held high, and for others it was learning how to dunk a ball.

“The afternoon was a great experience, which helped us gain confidence in how we play and how we learn the sport.

“Thank you to Ms Scorsone and Ms James, our terrific PE teachers, for making the clinic a possibility.”
