Three fourth year Australian Catholic University education students have received St Vincent de Paul Society scholarships at a ceremony at ACU’s Aboriginal unit, Yalbalinga.

The director of Yalbalinga, Ken Ralph attended the ceremony to congratulate Chick Edwards, Patricia McInherny and Leanne Pitt on their achievement.

The St Vincent de Paul Society announced the new scholarships last November.

They are directed towards ACU students in Bachelor of Education (Primary-Indigenous Education or Secondary-Indigenous Education) at the Mt St Mary Campus, Sydney.

“To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must have Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status, provide evidence of financial need, have completed all components of the first or second year of the course and display a commitment to working in the field of education,” said St Vincent de Paul Society’s country vice-president Stan Lewis.
