Sydney’s Medjugorje celebration

St Pius V parish at Enmore is celebrating 20 years of Medjugorje with an afternoon and evening of prayerful celebration this coming Sunday, June 24.

The celebration is being organised by parish priest Fr John Iacono, with the help of Martin Hannagan and others. It will begin with the latest Medjugorje videos at 2pm and include confessions and an Exposition of the Holy Sacrament, as well as a Mass of Thanksgiving at 5pm.

A supper will follow at 6.30pm, for which people are asked to bring a plate of food, a flower for Mary, their photos and memories of Medjugorje, and, most important, family, friends and peace.

Money raised on the day will go to help fund the orphanages near Medjugorje begun by the recently deceased Medjugorje priest Fr Barbaric Slavko.

Fr John said he had received a tremendous amount of help in organising the event with people promising flowers, food and even bunting, and to help to organise the whole event.

“This is the most help I have received for anything in the seven months I have been at the parish,” Fr John said.
