Designer aspired to great heights

His dreaming spires of St Mary’s may have only just been completed but the cathedral’s architect, William Wardell, designed the cathedral back in 1865. It was an unusual design with a high gothic nave and spires juxtaposed with an intimate Romanesque crypt.

Interested in learning more about the man who made St Mary’s? Then come and hear Justice Barry O’Keefe speak on his pet subject at a Friends of St Mary’s lunch at 12 midday on Monday, June 18.
