Youth 2000 – bringing young people together

Youth 2000, the internationally popular movement for young Catholics, is holding a youth festival in Sydney next weekend.

The festival, to be held from February 16–18 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall, Seven Hills, will feature inspiring talks, a Mass, sharing of faith and an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, as well as group workshops.

There will also be a Christian band playing a mix of songs, featuring new material from the United States and Europe.

Youth 2000 was launched in Sydney in 1999 in preparation for the Great Jubilee. Since then, the festival weekends have attracted hundreds of young Catholics. Put together for young people by young people, the festivals have a youthful style and offer participants the opportunity to meet with like-minded young Christians.

According to the website, the primary goal of Youth 2000 is “to inspire and prepare young people to live and give witness to the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ, especially in this decade of evangelisation called by the Holy Father”.

Youth 2000 aims to provide support and fellowship to young people attending retreats, and also to help young people rediscover their role in their parish.
